overview ad manager has two status types input status docid\ q51nvvstp9dmtalq ddjq and display status docid\ q51nvvstp9dmtalq ddjq input status input status refers to the active or disabled status you manually select for a campaign, line item, or ad group (see the screenshot below) note that the input status you select impacts the display status more on this in the next section docid\ q51nvvstp9dmtalq ddjq display status display status refers to the system calculated status that reflects the current state of a campaign or line item (see the screenshot below) the system uses the input status and other factors, such as flight dates and budget allocation, to calculate the display status there are five display status types \display status\ \what it means\ s live currently running and eligible to bid as long as it's allocated pending not yet live but will start bidding when next allocated flight begins paused delivery has stopped for one of these reasons campaign, line item, or ad group is input status is disabled (see input status) no allocation no active creative assigned completed the campaign has finished, and its flight dates have passed it will start bidding if a new allocated flight is scheduled expired the campaign has finished, and its flight dates have passed will not bid again even if a new allocated flight is scheduled how display statuses are determined the display status of a campaign or line item is inherited from the "most live" display status of its child ad groups, which follows this ranking live > pending > paused > completed > expired for example, if a line item is live, the campaign's status will also be live these statuses are calculated in real time and are not stored in the platform database activation and creation rules here are some key rules for how statuses are applied when you create or modify a campaign bulk updates when you activate or disable a campaign, the same input status is applied to all of its child line items and ad groups similarly, activating or disabling a line item affects all of its child ad groups for example, if you select an input status of disabled for the a campaign, the line item and ad groups will also be disabled default status newly created line items and ad groups are automatically set to an input status of active how to launch an ad group for a new or active ad group to go live it needs the following have at least one creative assigned have budget allocated be within a flight's date range once #1 and #2 are met, the display status changes from paused to pending then, once the flight's start date it met (#3), the ad group status automatically changes to live and starts delivering
