when you build an audience, you are defining a new audience based on one or more datasets and/or other audiences, which you have already ingested into the system you can't create two identical audiences note the cpm values that display for specific segments are based on the currency selected for your account the default currency is usd step 1 name the audience on the left side menu, select audience manage r click audiences the audiences page displays note to edit an existing audience, click the action menu in the row for the audience you want to update and click edit audience to create a new audience, click new audience the new audience page displays at enter new audience name , enter a unique name for the audience step 2 add metadata tags tags provide the ability to create categories and filter for specific content the tag can be displayed on the audiences page if you choose but doesn't appear by default to add tags to your audience, complete the following steps to add metadata tags, click add tags a entry field displays if tags are already created, you can select it from the list enter tags in the field you can have a maximum of 5 tags as you begin to type a list of tags displays where you can pick the ones you want step 3 add a test control group you have the option to include a test control group as part of the audience the test group does not receive the ads and can be used to evaluate the success of campaigns the audience is assigned to adding a test control group is not a required part of the audience select add control group fields appear to allow you to define the size of the group enter a group control name to help you identify the specific group when viewing audience details at size , enter a numeric value that represents the percentage of the total audience which will be included in the test control group for example, if you enter 10, then 10 percent of the total audience is placed in the test control group to allow the audience to be used for lookalike audiences, click enable lookalike the audience step 4 define usage restrictions if you are building an audience that will not be restricted to use only dataset segments from specific advertisers, skip this section to create an audience that only uses segments from datasets that are permitted for specific advertisers, complete the following steps at usage restriction , select advertiser at the advertiser drop down, select the advertiser you want you can select multiple advertisers only datasets that are available for the advertiser you select can be included in the audience step 5 add dataset segments attach datasets to the new audience note datasets and segments from some vendors are exclusive to that vendor and cannot be added to audiences that include other audience segments when that is the case, exclusive displays beside the segment click the my datasets tab to search for a specific dataset, enter the name in the search field select a dataset from the list the list contains the datasets created by your organization select the arrow ( > ) on the left side of the first dataset row you want to include rows open in the data set revealing each segment contained in the dataset click + to select the segment that you want select either add to segment group 1 or add to exclusions you can add or exclude specific segments from the dataset selecting add to segment group 1 loads its content into your first segment group, which displays in the segment group 1 box to the right selecting add to exclusions removes segments from the audience that you are building when you select a segment to which privacy laws apply, a warning message displays identify segments impacted by privacy laws by indicating sensitivity to privacy laws using taxonomies on the setup tab iab category information displays when you select a segment that contains audience members that fall within a specific category or sub category repeat this process with other datasets to add or exclude more audience members from the segment group the updated elements of your segment group will be reflected in the segment group table segments within the same segment group are in an or relationship for example, a segment group might include households that are either demo viewers or demo ott maid subscriber to add more segment groups, click add new group additional segment group boxes display below the segment group 1 table segments are added in the same way that they were for the first segment group each new segment group you add is added to the total (they have an and relationship with the first segment group ) the result filters the size of your audience to only those who fit the characteristics of both segment groups this change is reflected in the total reach
